Build-A-Bed Lenten Project
Over ten thousand children in Jefferson County go to sleep each night without a bed of their own, resting on couches, floors, or shared spaces. A good night’s rest and a safe, comfortable bed are essential for a child’s sense of security, mental well-being, and physical health.
Build A Bed was founded in 2010 by Ben Langley, whose vision was to ensure that every child has a bed to call their own. Spearheaded by our own Rachel Platt, FCC has been involved in Build A Bed every year since 2014, except for the year we had to miss due to Covid. That means our next build will be our 10th Build A Bed event!
This year, we are embarking on a bold goal for FCC’s Lent Service Project—to raise $3,000 to provide 25 beds for children in need (which WE will build in December!). For just $120, you can sponsor a bed for a child in need. We encourage you to challenge your coworkers, friends, and neighbors to contribute.
Every child receiving a bed will be provided with:
✅ A bed frame and mattress
✅ A pillow, sheets, and comforter
✅ A handmade quilt
✅ A bedtime book
✅ A toothbrush and toothpaste
✅ A stuffed animal for comfort
Your generosity will provide comfort, dignity, and hope to a child in need. Together, we can create a wave of generosity that transforms the lives of children in our community.
