CONGREGATIONAL MEETING - July 14
TO: Members and Participants of First Christian Church of Louisville
RE: CONGREGATIONAL MEETING - July 14, immediately following worship
FROM: Drexel Rankin - President of the Congregation
Amanda Meade - Senior Minister
Greetings FCC Family,
The First Christian Church of Louisville has called a congregational meeting for Sunday, July 14, immediately following worship. The FCC Louisville board intends to present three proposals to the congregation for a vote. We urge you to make every effort to attend the congregational meeting in person.
A member of the Administrative Team or a Trustee will speak to each of the following proposals followed by a time of Q&A. Your church leadership has struggled with these issues since the beginning of the year and can field your questions and give answers on Sunday. We need the congregation to understand, as completely as possible, the full scope of each of these proposals that are being recommended and voted upon.
The three proposals that the Board will present to the congregation are:
PROPOSAL #1 - That FCC Louisville apply for a 20-year draw loan of $200,000 from the Board of Church Extension of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) to be used only for capital projects, such as replacement of the roof and HVACs, to be followed by a Fall Capital Campaign to begin to repay the loan, as soon as we begin to draw on the loan.
PROPOSAL #2 - That FCC Louisville explore the sale of up to 14 acres of land, located along US Hwy 42, that has never been utilized by the Church. *We anticipate that this process could take up to 18 months.
PROPOSAL #3 - That monies received from the sale of land be used to:
· Repay the Board of Church Extension loan in full
· Have the necessary funds available for future HVAC replacement
· Earmark remaining funds to a Capital Reserve Fund for future repairs, projects, etc.
· No funds from the sale of this property would be used for the church budget, salaries of staff, etc.
We need your presence in the sanctuary, if possible. If that is absolutely impossible, please contact our church administrator, Gina, for a ZOOM link so that you can attend virtually. If neither is possible, please contact the church office for additional information about proxy voting. Please use the proxy option as a last resort.
We thank you for your commitment and support of First Christian Church. Without you, our many ministries could not be possible.
Grace and Peace,
Drexel Rankin
President of the Congregation
and
Rev. Amanda Meade
Senior Pastor
