FCC Builds Community Garden

Two members of First Christian Church of Louisville, Phil Copeland and Kathy Olliges, worked to create a Community Garden at First Christian. With the help of additional volunteers, they built four raised garden beds on the property to grow fresh vegetables such as tomatoes and peppers. The harvest from this garden was donated to the Eastern Area Community Ministries food pantry and surplus was shared with the members of FCC of Louisville. In addition, one garden bed was also set aside for First Kids Preschool and Child Care center for educational and nutritional purposes.

The funds from a 2018 First Christian Church of Louisville Wholeness Ministry Grant provided the wood, compost, starter plants, seeds and other gardening supplies. Going forward, the beds will be made available to the community and anyone who would like to utilize one is welcome to do so.

The wholeness grant used to fund this ministry was made possible through your faithful financial support of our church and its ministries and help fund a variety of efforts to make our world a better place.
