FCC Builds More Beds for Louisville Children
Every year in December, First Christian Church hosts their annual Build a Bed project. FCC members and friends will come together after services on Sunday, December 8, 2019 to participate. In each of the past three years, FCC built over 25 beds (30 in 2017 and in 2018!) for children in Louisville who do not have beds of their own.
There are about 13,000 homeless children who attend Jefferson County Public Schools. A conservative estimate is that 3,000 of those children have no bed on which to sleep. The ministry was born out of the desire of First Christian Church member Rachel Platt to change that! Rachel, former newscaster for WHAS 11, learned about the heartbreaking reality of so many children in our community not having beds and knew she wanted FCC to get involved in an effort to change that. First Christian Church is so pleased to be hosting this annual event, bringing together people to work with their hands and hearts, and was happy to provide another Wholeness Grant this year, for the purchase of supplies.
The wholeness grant used to fund this ministry was made possible through your faithful financial support of our church and its ministries and help fund a variety of efforts to make our world a better place. You can find more examples of those efforts or apply for a grant to make the world a better place by clicking here.
