FCC Member Helps Raise Money for Pediatric Cancer Patients

raiseRED is the largest student-run philanthropic organization on the University of Louisville’s campus. In 2018, the group partnered with Kosair Charities to raise funds and awareness for The UofL’s Pediatric Oncology and Hematology Clinic. This year-long partnership culminated in February 2018 with an 18-hour Dance Marathon to celebrate the steps taken towards the alleviation children’s cancer.

In 2017, raiseRED was able to donate $459,000 to the clinic and so, set their goal for this year at $550,000. They were able to achieve this and more, collecting a final total of $601,381 which will be used by the clinic for both patient care and for research, including the provision of a full-time social worker.

FCC was excited to contribute to the $601,381 raised in 2018 for pediatric cancer patients at UofL.

In 2018, FCC was proud to support Elena Berkenbosch, a member of FCC and a University of Louisville sophomore majoring in both History and Political Science with a minor in Philosophy in her efforts as a team member of raiseRed. Elena had such an incredible experience with raiseRED during her first year at UoL, she has now become a Team Leader for the organization and is looking forward to working for this wonderful cause again in the 2018-2019 school year.
