FCC Member Helps to Fill "Johnny's List"
The Forgotten Louisville is a group of volunteers who serve the homeless community every Wednesday.
Each week the homeless are assured of receiving a meal and assistance from groups in the community.
While volunteering on Wednesday at the waterfront, church member Tammy Moriarty asked a gentleman what he needed most. He answered thoughtfully with a list that included basic hygiene products and items that would be helpful for daily survival.
What is now called “Johnny’s List” includes:
sewing kits deodorant AA and AAA batteries first aid kits hand sanitizer insect repellent razors
Thanks to First Christian, there is now an inventory of everything on the list that will last for months. It was clear from the first evening items were distributed that volunteers were on the right track to help. There was a lot of enthusiasm, hugs and some tears. Hopefully, by following “Johnny’s List,” life will be made a little easier for those struggling with homelessness, and a sense of dignity and hope will be restored.
The wholeness grant used to fund this ministry was made possible through your faithful financial support of our church and its ministries and help fund a variety of efforts to make our world a better place.
