FCC Provides a Second "Cup of Joe" to Men of St. John Homeless Shelter
On February 15, 2015, Kenneth Winfield froze to death on the streets of Louisville. Before he died, Kenneth was a regular visitor to the St. John's Shelter for Men, a ministry that provides care and direction for homeless men.
Upon hearing that story, First Christian Church member Sandy Selby felt the call to get more involved at St. John's. After visiting the center and talking with the staff, she decided to apply for a wholeness ministry grant to help provide coffee for the men of the center.
Coffee may not sound like an essential item, but sometimes it is the little things in life that can make the biggest impact. With that in mind, Sandy created her "Cup of Joe for St. John's" Ministry.
Now in her second year of leading this ministry, Sandy's efforts are really starting to add up. By combining the money she received through the wholeness ministry grant and donations of coffee related supplies given by First Christian Church members, we were able to provide: - 236 Pounds of Coffee - 350 Pounds of Sugar - 1,300 Coffee Cups - 130Pounds of Creamer - 1500 Sweet & Low Packets
- 40 Rolls of Paper Towels
- 100 Boxes of Tissue
Please take a few minutes to watch the video above as it tells the story much better than any article ever could.

The wholeness grant used to fund this ministry was made possible through your faithful financial support of our church and its ministries and help fund a variety of efforts to make our world a better place.
