First Christian Continues Technological Support for Westport Middle School
In 2015, First Christian Church of Louisville provided a Wholeness Ministry Grant to Westport Middle school to purchase 29 Chromebooks for the use of middle school students learning geography. This technology allowed students to explore the world around them and gain new insights to help them grow as global citizens.
Since the students at Westport come from an area of Louisville that is high poverty, access to technology is not always available in their schools or their homes. These computers have been utilized to support individual student work as well as group work, while providing students with an opportunity to become computer literate at an early age.
After three years of use, four of these well used Chromebooks had broken screens. FCC of Louisville has provided additional grant funds in 2018 to replace the broken computers and maintain the original number, which provides a Chromebook for every two students.
The wholeness grant used to fund this ministry was made possible through your faithful financial support of our church and its ministries and help fund a variety of efforts to make our world a better place.
