First Christian Provides Emergency Grant in Response to Historic Flooding
The Group Workcamp mission trip had been almost two years in the making. The dates of the mission trip were set for July 3 - 9, 2016.
Our destination, Cedar Grove, WV.
On June 23, a devastating flood hit the area. 23 lives were lost and over 1200 homes were destroyed. Countless other homes were in dire need of repair.
Group Workcamp called Jerry McBroom at First Christian Church, asking for donations of bleach, diapers, baby wipes, baby formula, and work gloves. Local supplies were diminished and the needs in the community were great.
We put the word out to our church that donations were needed in Cedar Grove.
Due to the flooding, and the extensive cleanup needed, it was determined that bleach was the most pressing need. A wholeness grant was secured to purchase 250 gallons of bleach to be transported to Cedar Grove, WV, to be donated to the community.
In 40 years of operation, Group has never received a larger donation response to expressed need than was provided by First Christian Church of Louisville for the flooding victims in the communities surrounding Cedar Grove, WV.
Your generosity made that possible!!
The wholeness grant used to fund this ministry was made possible through your faithful financial support of our church and its ministries and help fund a variety of efforts to make our world a better place.
