Last month we talked about gratitude. This month we will discuss Thankful.

In America we have the privilege to worship wherever and however we wish. This is something indeed to be thankful for. God welcomes us no matter what doors we walk through. He is there waiting for us. Our current sermon series on Open Doors is a wonderful metaphor for the opportunities that await us all. In this week’s sermon, God was described as NOT an ATM. This got me to thinking about that reflection. To flip the narrative, I could argue that God is exactly LIKE an ATM.

He is always available for withdrawals. As Christians we rely on his support. We count on him always being available. We are also taught to give back and to share his giving spirit. This is how we deposit back into the account. We earn interest in the bounty of time, money or caring we share with and for others. Our withdrawals from God can earn huge interest in this account! We all can be very Thankful for this arrangement.

Among the many opportunities at FCC for this kind of banking is Stephen Ministry. We are a group of people glad to share our time, ears and shoulders to others looking for shoring up their accounts. We have a willingness to give back a security in your relationship with Christ that can help build back your religious safekeeping. God is the cure giver that can restore what you may have lost in the struggle of an overwhelming life event. We are here to build back up your reserves.
